Bachelor of Science

Major: Elementary Education

  1. An earned AA degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  2. A passing score on The General Knowledge Test.
  3. Required Program Prerequisites (grades of C or better) and electives for the Associate in Arts Degree (minimum of 24 credit hours)

Major: Secondary Biology

  1. An earned AA degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  3. Required Program Prerequisites (grades of C or better) and electives for the Associate in Arts Degree (minimum of 23 credit hours):

      +students can substitute 8 hours of General Chemistry (CHM 2045/L and 2046/L) or 8 hours of Physics (PHY 1053/L and 1054L) OR (PHY 2048/L and 2049L) in place of 8 hours of Biological Science

Major: Middle Grades Language Arts Education

  1. An earned AA degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  2. A passing score on The General Knowledge Test.
  3. Required Program Prerequisites (grades of C or better):
    • *EDF 2005 Intro to the Teaching Profession
    • *EDF 2085 Intro to Diversity for Educators
    • *EME 2040 Intro to Technology for Educators
    • *PSY 2012 General Psych. or DEP 2004 Dev. Psych

                                               AND choose (1) Course (3 credit hours) from:

    • *AML 2010 Literature of the United States I
    • *AML 2020 Literature of the United States II
    • *ENL 2012 British Literature and Culture I
    • *ENL 2022 British Literature and Culture II
    • *LIT 2110 World Literature I
    • *LIT 2120 World Literature II

      *courses can be used to satisfy general education requirements in social sciences (in addition to specific WOH or EUH requirement)

    Students must choose a minimum of one additional lower division literature course to satisfy major requirements. 

    Students are encouraged to take additional LIT, ENL, AML and CRW courses and/or EDE 4935 to fulfill any remaining general electives (to meet 120 total credit hours required).


Major: Middle Grades Mathematics Education

  1. An earned AA degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  2. A passing score on The General Knowledge Test.
  3. Required Program Prerequisites (grades of C or better):
    • *EDF 2005 Intro to the Teaching Profession
    • *EDF 2085 Intro to Diversity for Educators
    • *EME 2040 Intro to Technology for Educators
    • *PSY 2012 General Psych. or DEP 2004 Dev. Psych

    • **MAC XXXX College level math course
    • **MAC 2311 Calculus w/ Analytic Geometry I  
      (typical prerequisite sequence of MAC 1105, MAC 1140 and MAC 1114)

    *courses can be used to satisfy general education requirements in social sciences (in addition to specific WOH or EUH requirement)
    **courses can be used to satisfy general education requirements in mathematics
    Students are encouraged to take additional math courses and/or EDE 4935 to fulfill general elective hours (to reach 120 credit hour requirement)
