With nearly 50 years in higher education, President Walker has been awarded numerous degrees and honors. The highlights appear below.

Invited to serve on the prestigious Center for Educational Performance and Accountability Advisory Board., March 3, 2009

Selected the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber's 2008 Man of the Year June 7, 2008.

Honored by Senator Dave Aronberg for outstanding service to the Southwest Florida community at his annual program for “Teens Take Tallahassee,” November 29, 2007.

Received the Southwest Florida Council, Inc. Boy Scouts of America 2006 Distinguished Citizen Award.  Presented November 3, 2006.

Received the Chamber of Southwest Florida Business Building Leadership Award “in recognition of your vision, community and business leadership and your ongoing commitment to Southwest Florida.”  Presented at the Chamber of Southwest Florida's 18th Annual Regional Economic Outlook Conference, December 13, 2005.

Honored by the Navarro College Board of Trustees with the dedication of the Kenneth P. Walker Student Dining Hall on the Corsicana campus (Texas), October 20, 2005.

Won the President’s Award for Professional Excellence for 2000-2001, presented by the Florida Association of Community Colleges Administration Commission, November 3, 2000.

Received the President’s Exemplary Service Award, presented by the Florida Association of Community Colleges, November 1999.

Gained unanimous approval by the Edison Community College District Board of Trustees on February 23, 1999, for the naming of the allied health facility on the Lee County Campus of Edison Community College the Kenneth P. Walker Health Sciences Hall.

Honored as a 1997 Distinguished Graduate of the Community College Leadership Program, the University of Texas at Austin.

Nominated for the 1996 Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education.

Received the Community Service Award, presented by the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce on January 10, 1991, for "the many positive steps and outstanding leadership in improving the educational opportunities and the quality of life for the citizens of Oklahoma City."

Earned the twenty-five-year service award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for years of service in the development of higher education.

Awarded the Michael M. Bennett Distinguished President Award, given by Phi Theta Kappa, national honors fraternity for the community colleges, to a community college president who has best promoted the goals of Phi Theta Kappa.

Inducted into the National Phi Theta Kappa Hall of Honor, (1980), - for outstanding service.

Received the K. Wolens Distinguished Service Award, (1978) given by the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce for outstanding service to the community.  A $25,000 Kenneth P. Walker Scholarship at Navarro College was established by the Wolens Foundation.

Receive the Marie Y. Martin Professional Educators Award, (1977) given by the American Association of Community College Trustees at the annual convention in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Received the Kiwanis Club Community Service Award, 1975.
