| General Information |
The Nursing Program is organized within Edison State College within the Division of Professional and Technical Studies. This program is designed to prepare the qualified and accepted nursing student to enter the registered nursing profession. The course content provides the student with a thorough background in all aspects of nursing. Clinical practice and theoretical concepts are stressed in order to prepare the student to pass the NCLEX-RN examination. There is a day basic program and evening / weekend basic program as well as an Advanced Placement Program designed for LPN's, RT's, CVT's and Paramedics to bridge to RN.
Nursing students will be assigned clinical experiences at the local hospitals, clinics, or Hospice or Home Health agencies. Clinical expertise is taught and practiced in the Nursing Laboratory on each of the three campuses.
Nursing students are eligible to apply for acceptance as Basic students if they have no previous experience in nursing or as Advanced Placement students if they currently hold a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license, a Cardio-Vascular Technician, a Respiratory Therapy or a Paramedic license.
